Bow Fishing

Catfish is a broad category covering many species. Adults range in size from less than a pound to hundreds of pounds. They can be found in all types of water including ponds, streams, lakes and rivers. Channel cats can be caught most any time of year, except in extreme cold water conditions. These fish can be caught year round in Bayou Country because the water never freezes. There are places where these fish can be caught in extreme cold, and this is any place that has warm water run off from cooling plants. Channel cats are bottom feeders so any bait that has a strong odor will work. The best bait that I've found are shrimp and soft shell crab
Catfish Look for these big blue cats in major rivers and bayous. They feed on fish frogs, mollusks, crawfish and large invertebrates. They find food more by use of their keen sense of smell.

Look for them to be hiding in hollowed out logs or undercuts in structures.I've even laid pipe in the water then me and a friend would get on either side and let the water run out holding our hands or a net at the ends of the pipes to catch the fish inside.
